Not so much a word of the week, but on Halloween and Samhain for some of us, a culmination of our word of the month, Fear, is called for.
I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.
– Litany of Fear, Dune, Frank Herbert.
This litany was written many years ago for a book largely about the power of belief in oneself. Fear can prevent us from becoming who we want to be. It can keep us from achieving our greatest goals. However, as the litany says, only you can change that. Think about this as you move forward towards the next year. What challenges are you willing to face in order to achieve your greatness?
