Winning and success are oftentimes used as measurements of how well we are doing in life. Many of us forget or even take for granted one measurement of success: Surviving.
For some, simply surviving is not enough, and that is just fine and even understandable, but there will come a time when we don’t win. We don’t succeed, but yet we are still breathing, our hearts still beat. We can do it again.
There are those for whom failure means the end and it is a difficult process to bring yourself to a point that you are capable of doing whatever it takes anyway, regardless of the failure conditions. Those who can do it however are considered strong and it is because they remember one important detail. They are still here, they are still alive and kicking. They have a chance to do what needs to be done.
It is said no one ever wins a fight, but I feel that if you survived it, you won. Even if all you had to do was run away, you are still alive and breathing. You won. The best part, you didn’t have to make someone else lose in the process. Two wins.
Every time you fall down, every time you are knocked back, remember you are still breathing. You still have a chance to do it again. Survive and win.
“Fall seven times, stand up eight.”
– Japanese proverb.
