Winning is fun…. Sure. But winning is not the point. Wanting to win is the point. Not giving up is the point. Never letting up is the point. Never being satisfied with what you’ve done is the point.” —Pat Summitt

Winning. What does that even mean? Succeeding, sure. Overcoming an opponent, sure. What does it mean for you? You didn’t give up. You didn’t quit. You didn’t rest on your laurels. You never once thought that you are already the best and didn’t have to prove it.

In any sort of competitive environment, there is always the win. Whether it is against an opponent or a set goal or even your past efforts, it is something to strive for. The ultimate win though is against yourself. The part of you that says no. The one that says you can’t do it. The one that says quit while you are ahead. As a drill instructor of mine was fond of saying, ‘Stow that trash, you ain’t done until the job is done!’ He had a point, even screaming this at the top of his lungs. When you win, you are not done. There is always a greater goal, a greater opponent, a greater achievement. Get to work and you will win. Practice and you will achieve. Give up and you’ve already lost.

Train hard,
