Firstly, Happy New Year to everyone! I hope this year, the year of the Pig according to the Chinese Calendar, will be a good year for growth and transition into the next leg of your journey around the sun. That said, our word this month is in fact Transition and covering that this week is Change.
Change occurs all the time. Sometimes they are small things, some so subtle they are barely noticeable, such as how you walk with better balance and are less likely to bump into things since you’ve started training. Some are sweeping and large, such as now you can stand in horse stance for many minutes rather than a few seconds before your legs give out on you.
We’re not just talking about martial arts though, as change occurs in our lives all the time. It is in how we deal with it that truly defines us. It is said that a true warrior embraces change with peace and tranquility. They are able to understand that change is a necessary part of life. The rest of this month will be spent working on how to get to a point in your life that change is not a bad thing and how to find peace in that change. Until then, train hard and watch how your body changes and grows.
