Word of the Week, January 16th, 2019

This week’s word is Conservation. Now, you may be wondering what that has to do with transition, and you would be right to. However, conservation during transition is vitally important. When change occurs, it is necessary to make sure that we maintain focus on who we are. Many difficult occurrences have a tendency to change who we are and not necessarily for the better. The thing is, you actually have a choice in how you change. By taking a step back and looking at who you were before the transition, you can decide which parts of you need changing and which need to stay the same.

Some of us have gone through many trying times and in those times, we may have felt helpless or defeated or worse. While those feelings are natural in the moment, remember that that are only feelings, they do not define you, unless you choose to let them. Remember the trials you have gone through before. Remember how you made it through and it made you better. Hang on to that. Use it to remind you of how strong you really are and those bad feelings don’t have to become who you are.

Change is inevitable, but knowing that you don’t have to lose yourself to it is what makes you strong.

Train hard,

Head Instructor Shawn Morris
