The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.
– Tony Robbins

The Journey to a goal is the goal. It is about the things you learn along the way that make you better at achieving your goals. The thing is, if you don’t even start, your goals are that much farther away. We’ve talked before about the things you can pick up from your failures as well as your successes on the path of your journey. It is important to note that you will need to allow yourself time to reflect on your journey in order to truly gain from it.

In the martial arts, a common goal is black belt or black sash. As we know, along the way there are several ranks to achieve before then. While they are small goals in and of themselves, there are other things you will pick up along the way: discipline, physical strength, mental strength, endurance, willpower, finesse, grace, respect, the list is rather long. Take the time to truly appreciate the journey itself, and you will find that the goal will be a part of the journey and it will continue beyond the goal.
