Hi everyone and welcome to March and soon the beginning of Spring! This month we talk about Responsibility and we will cover that in great detail later. We have a lot of exciting news to share, so we’ll get started on that right away. Firstly, you will notice in the Calendar that on Thursday, March 21st at 7pm, we will have our registration for the new Little Tigers Kung Fu program! This is a great way to introduce your little ones to the wide world of kung fu and its long history of benefits to the mind and body. (We have included a copy of the flyer with all the information below.) We are also in the middle of our Young Americans Self Defense courses and registration is still open for that as well. On top of that, as always, come in any time to check out one of our kung fu classes for one free class to try out what kung fu can do for you. We are very excited this month with all the new things we are going to accomplish and we look forward to seeing to your training in the martial arts.
With that in mind, we will talk a little about responsibility, our word of the month. While at times some of the ideas we discuss on our website seem random, they are in reality usually reflective of some of things I go through as an instructor and a person. As both, I am responsible for a great many things. The biggest thing of all and the hardest thing for many to grasp is the responsibility to the self; not of the self, to the self. The things you owe yourself. Being happy, taken care of, being healthy and comfortable in the life you live, all these things ultimately fall to you to be responsible for as a person. While you are growing up, whether as a child, or as a student of martial arts, someone is watching out for you. Making sure your needs are met as best they can, whether at home or in the school. The thing is, even the most experienced parent or instructor can not anticipate all of what you need. This is where that responsibility to yourself starts to appear. You know what you need if you pay attention to yourself. Your body and your mind are very good at communicating with you to tell you their needs, but it is up to you to listen and translate that to your parent or instructor. Taking responsibility for yourself by communicating your needs to others will help them understand you better and lead to a more harmonious existence in class as well as life. You have but one life, make it the best one you can by being responsible for it.
