August 2018 Update

August has rolled in and Summer is still hanging on strong. Even with the weather changing in the near future to cooler temperatures, always remember to bring extra water and stay hydrated. Even if it is cloudy outside and cool inside, you can still lose valuable amounts of water as you sweat in class. Make sure during water breaks that you drink slowly and take small sips so as to not damage your insides from the shock of cold water. Learning martial arts is a lesson in taking care of yourself and this is one of those things to be aware of. It is said that the body needs half an ounce of water a day per pound of body weight. That’s presuming normal every day activity. If you are working hard and sweating it out, it would need almost double that amount. Pay attention to your body’s needs and it will take care of you. As an aside, I plan to start updating the page weekly with some wisdom from our kung fu classes where we have words of the week. Feel free to join those discussions once they start occurring. See you in class!
