Word of the Week, November 7, 2018

I will start this week’s word, Aptitude, with a quote:

“Your friends will believe in your potential, your enemies will make you live up to it.”

This statement exemplifies what it means to be a master, especially of martial arts. We do not train to be better than our friends, we train to be better than who we were yesterday because your enemies will make sure that you give your all.

Aptitude is the level of skill you have. A master is constantly trying to increase their aptitude, rather than let it stay the same. As the old saying goes, “the day you skip training is the day the enemy trains twice as hard.” Something to keep in mind.

Towards no excuses,

Head Instructor Shawn Morris
