Summer Goes By Fast

Hi everyone,

Summer is slowly coming to a close and we are hoping that you have been staying safe and practicing. This week I wanted to be transparent and let everyone know where we are at on making videos. The one thing that seems to be eluding us is a good sound system. The videos themselves seem fine, but our sound is either non-existent or it cuts out at inopportune moments. As we can only do the videos on Saturdays at class, it makes things difficult. Still, we are trudging along and I believe we have one video almost ready to share, we just need to add some final edits. I hope to get it out within the week.

Secondly, we are also considering moving to Wednesday evening classes rather than Saturdays, as our research has shown that this time is usually more attractive to those looking to expand their martial arts training. While nothing is in stone yet, the chisel is set. Please feel free to comment and weigh in on your thoughts. Would Wednesdays make you more or less willing to join our class?

Finally, I want to talk briefly about perseverance. With our day jobs, college and numerous other things vying for our attention, making time to practice ourselves as well as working on the school has been difficult at best. The important thing is that we never stop trying. There will be days when you just don’t feel like it. Try for a few minutes and see where it gets you. Set a timer even. Start with two minutes and if you are done after that, you are done. If you feel like continuing, then do so. Set another timer. You will see that over time, you will become better and the motivation will increase. The most important thing is that you never stop trying.

Until next time,

Head Instructor Shawn Morris
